Meet Suzanne Hurst, Founder & Owner
My wellness journey began 16 years ago while teaching in a public school. I noticed a lot of anxiety and stress in and around school from parents, teachers, faculty, families, and students. I also felt a great deal of stress in my professional life and that spilled over into my personal life.
I found myself at a crossroads. Leave the profession I love, or stay and find a way to take care of myself. I chose to stay but knew there had to be a way to deal with day-to-day stresses. This began my journey into Self-Care and the Healing Arts.
I booked a Reiki session with a local practitioner and felt immediate relief from stress. I continued to book sessions and eventually trained to be a Certified Reiki Master.
Through my training, I learned a variety of Healing Arts and Self-Care techniques including but not limited to:
- Meditation
- Breath Work
- Reflexology
- Aromatherapy
- Mindfulness
The more I studied Reiki and the Healing Arts, the more positive tools I could bring to my students and myself. My classroom became a calm, supportive, nurturing environment for students, staff, and parents. It was an oasis in a desert of chaos.
How Abundant Life Wellness Began (Est. 2018)
I retired from teaching in 2017 and knew I needed to continue helping, healing, and educating others. Once a teacher, always a teacher – even in retirement.
I started my own Reiki practice and many of my friends, family and associates would book sessions with me to help relieve the stress and anxiety they were experiencing in their professional and personal lives. I wanted to be able to reach more people, so I created a soothing foot soak and body butter that could be used daily to combat stress and fatigue. I offered Self-Care parties with soothing Foot Soaks, Hand Reflexology, Aromatherapy, Breath Work, Meditation, and Self-Care techniques.
The response was amazing and Abundant Life Wellness was born. I continue to educate others in Mindfulness, Self-Care, and the Healing Arts. All of my products come from a place of healing and helping others and are made with positive energy and love.
